Psycho-Legal Assessments
& Medico-Legal Reports

Comprehensive psychological assessments for attorneys, insurance companies, and the Road Accident Fund (RAF). Expert reports and court testimony delivered with clinical rigour and independence.

What is a psycho-legal assessment?

A psycho-legal assessment is a specialized clinical evaluation conducted to address questions arising in legal contexts. Unlike therapeutic assessments, the primary duty is to the instructing party and the court, ensuring objectivity and independence.

Key Features

  • 01 HPCSA Compliance All assessments adhere strictly to the HPCSA guidelines for psychological assessments and reports.
  • 02 Objective Reporting Detailed, unbiased reports that address the specific questions posed in the letter of instruction.
  • 03 Court Experience Gao has experience testifying as an expert witness in both Magistrate and High Courts.
  • 04 Ethical Separation To avoid dual relationships, the practice does not conduct assessments for current therapy clients, nor therapy for assessment subjects.

Assessments typically involve a review of relevant medical and legal records, a structured clinical interview, and, where appropriate, the administration of standardized psychometric tests.

Reports address issues such as psychological sequelae, impact on earning capacity, daily functioning, pain and suffering, and prognosis. Each report includes a full curriculum vitae of the practitioner for court admission.
